Transparency International Sierra Leone has released its 2024 Budget Monitoring Report focusing on the health sector. The report tracks the flow of funds from the Ministry of Finance to local community health centers.
Concerning Trends
- Late Disbursements: Funds often arrive months late, forcing clinics to operate without essential supplies.
- Leakages: Approximately 15% of allocated funds could not be accounted for at the district level.
- Out-of-Pocket Payments: Patients are still paying for services that are legally free.
